The Eastern Beaches Police Area Command (PAC) covers the beaches and suburbs south of Bondi — including Maroubra, Randwick, Coogee, Clovelly, Kensington, and Centennial Park. The PAC office is at 136 Maroubra Road, Maroubra. It is part of the Central Metro Region.
Note on a common confusion: The Bondi Beach / Tamarama / Marks Park clifftops — and the cases of Ross Warren and John Russell — fall within the Eastern Suburbs PAC (Bondi Beach station), not the Eastern Beaches PAC. Eastern Beaches covers the coast south of Bondi: Coogee, Maroubra, and the Randwick LGA.
Police stations in this PAC (current):
| Station | Address | Phone | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maroubra | Corner of Bennetts Place and Maroubra Road, Maroubra 2035 | 02 9349 9299 | 24 hours |
| Randwick | 196 Alison Road, Randwick 2031 | 02 9697 1099 | 24 hours |
Suburbs covered: Banksmeadow, Centennial Park, Chifley, Clovelly, Coogee, Daceyville, Eastgardens, Hillsdale, Kensington, and surrounding areas.
Historical significance:
The Eastern Beaches area — particularly the beaches and coastal reserves around Coogee and Maroubra — contained beats documented in the period covered by this project. ACON’s In Pursuit of Truth and Justice (2018) notes that beats in the southern coastal suburbs were also sites of violence, though the most extensively documented cases in the eastern suburbs cluster around the Bondi–Tamarama clifftops to the north (Eastern Suburbs PAC jurisdiction).
The Randwick and Kensington areas, including the grounds of the University of New South Wales, were also part of the broader social geography of gay Sydney — locations where men met, and where the risk of violence was present.
Historical command structure:
The predecessor command(s) covering the Maroubra and Randwick area before the current Eastern Beaches PAC designation have not yet been documented for this project. The historical command name maroubra-pac is used as a provisional slug pending research.
