David Lloyd-Williams

David Lloyd-Williams was born on 20 June 1946 in Barnhurst, England. He had been living in Australia for approximately seven years at the time of his death, having likely migrated around 1971.

He worked as a Concert Manager with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Sydney, where he had been employed for several years. He was a music lover and had at some point auditioned for a church choir in Mosman, where he met his close friend Dr Neil McEwan, with whom he had shared a flat before his marriage.

Mr Lloyd-Williams had been married and had one daughter, who was an infant at the time of his death. His marriage broke down in April 1978 when his wife left him. From that point he suffered severe depression and was treated by psychiatrist Dr J E Hoult, spending time as an inpatient at North Ryde Psychiatric Centre. In the final days of his life he was staying with his mother-in-law, Anna Louisa Worton.

He died on 24 August 1978 at North Head, Manly, aged 32. The Sackar Inquiry found there was no evidence he was a member of the LGBTIQ community, and no reason to suspect LGBTIQ bias as a factor in his death.
