Linda Iles

Expert witness Research needed

Dr Linda Iles served as expert forensic pathologist for the Sackar Inquiry (SCOI), providing independent professional opinions on the cause and manner of death across multiple cases. She is likely to appear across a number of the cases examined by the Inquiry.

David Lloyd-Williams (1978): Dr Iles provided a report dated 11 January 2023. She found “multiple injuries sustained in a fall from height” was a reasonable statement of the cause of death — not materially different from the original post-mortem of Dr Grace Higgins. She observed that forensic pathology alone could not determine whether foul play or misadventure was involved as opposed to suicide, as available material was insufficient for assessing subtle injury. Her conclusion was that “circumstantial findings best inform the manner of Mr Lloyd-Williams’ death” and that “circumstances as described in the materials available, suggest that suicide was most likely.”
