Stub — Potts Point and the broader Kings Cross precinct was a significant centre of LGBTIQ life in Sydney from the 1960s through the 1980s. The Chevron Hotel on Macleay Street, whose downstairs bar (the Quarter Deck) was a well-known gathering place for gay men, is one of the most documented venues of this era in this project’s scope.
Research needed:
- Map other significant venues in the precinct during the 1970s–80s
- Connection to the Kings Cross PAC jurisdiction and any LGBTIQ-related policing history
- Relationship to the Oxford Street precinct as queer geography shifted over decades
