Stub — The Oxford Street precinct in Darlinghurst is the cultural and social centre of queer Sydney. From the 1970s onward it developed as the heart of gay Sydney: venues, community organisations, activist groups, and later the annual Mardi Gras route.

In this project’s scope:

Most of the hate crime deaths documented in this project’s scope occurred in the eastern suburbs — Marks Park, North Head, Shelley Headland — but Oxford Street is the cultural gravity well that these cases orbit.
